Kunstenfestival Watou, installatie Oznur Ozturk, Öznur Özturk, fotografie, 3D beeld, Kasteel de Lovie

In Oznur Ozturk’s project, she delves into the concept of diversity in the rural landscape of West Flanders. Her exploration was challenging yet not insurmountable. During this journey, she developed a profound connection with a young girl, ultimately becoming the focal point of her portrait. As a photographer, Oznur specializes in portraiture, finding constant inspiration in encounters with family members from diverse cultural backgrounds.

The 3D portrait, with eyes that continuously engage the observer, takes center stage in a monumental installation. This installation evokes reminiscences of a church, place of worship, or temple, albeit in an abstracted form without direct references or symbolism. The initial portrait was incorporated for the Watou art festival, and subsequently, the installation was expanded to include a second portrait.

For the ‘Knappe Koppen’ exhibition, Oznur introduced a second portrait to the installation. The depicted woman is of Turkish origin and settled in Genk, Limburg, in the 1960s.

The installation is further enriched with two additional portraits, delving even deeper into its intergenerational and intercultural dimensions. In this manner, the installation transforms into a representation of contemporary society.
